Sibel SEZER, Project Coordinator
Sibel Sezer is a visionary leader in multidisciplinary not-for-profit international organizations, She has set-up, shaped, and expanded two national offices of international organizations (UNDP, REC) over the past two decades; both of which have done pioneering work in the area of sustainable development.
She has pioneered the establishment of numerous program and committees on climate change and sustainable development in Turkey as well as built numerous teams, strengthened and motivated them to ensure effective teamwork and productive work environments.
Ms. Sezer is accomplished in fund‐raising, advocacy and lobbying; she has generated over 15 million euros for the not-for-profit environmental sector in Turkey. She has extensive experience in international negotiations, contributed in shaping major development instruments and agreements, both at national and international levels.
Sibel Sezer holds a BA in Economics from the Columbia University, New York, an MBA in Business Administration from Bilkent University, Ankara, and a PhD in Environmental Sciences from Boğaziçi University, Istanbul. She currently teaches a graduate level course on Sustainable Development at Kadir Has University.
She is a board member of the Turkish Marine Research Foundation since 2012. She was regional director for the Black Sea for the Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe between 2004 and 2014.
In addition, Sezer was director of the National Program on Environment and Development, UNDP in Ankara from 2001 to 2004. She worked as a lecturer at Middle East Technical University, Bilgi University, and Okan University.
She has also worked as an environmental economist between 1996 and 2000 and as an assistant to the Habitat II Coordinator between 1994 and 1996.
Dimitrios TRIANTAPHYLLOU, Project Advisor
Associate Professor Dimitrios Triantaphyllou assumed the position of Director of the Center for International and European Studies at Kadir Has University in September 2010. He holds a B.A. in Political Science and History from the University of California, Berkeley and a M.A. and Ph.D. in International Relations from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. He was previously Director General of the International Centre for Black Sea Studies (ICBSS) and Assistant Professor of International Relations at the University of the Aegean, Rhodes (2006-2010).
He was also Special Advisor at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic (2004-2006); Senior Research Fellow at the Hellenic Observatory of the European Institute at the LSE (2003-2004); Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for Security Studies of the European Union, Paris (2001-2003); Research Fellow at the Institute for Security Studies of the Western European Union, Paris (1999-2001); Deputy Director of the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP), Athens (1996-99); and Foreign Policy Advisor to a member of the European Parliament (1995).
He has written and edited a number of books and articles pertaining to European security, developments in the Black Sea region and South-Eastern Europe, and Greek foreign policy. He is also Associate Editor of the Journal of Southeast European and Black Sea Studies, a member of the Greek-Turkish Forum, and co-convener of the Commission on the Black Sea.
Güzin Aycan ÖZTÜRK, Project Assistant
Güzin Öztürk received her BA in Department of Political Science and International Relations from Marmara University in 2015 and MA from Conflict Analysis and Resolution Program in Sabancı University in 2017. She was granted twice for Erasmus Exchange Program.
During her BA, she studied at Sciences PO Rennes for one semester in 2013 and during her MA she took courses about international interventions, peacebuilding and civilian protection at Uppsala University.
She also held academic positions at the universities she studied at and worked as Project Coordinator and Research Manager in international projects in private sector. She currently works as Project Consultant for Sustainable Development and Good Governance at the CIES.
Duygu ÖKTEM, Research Intern
Duygu Öktem is a master student in the International Relations program of the Institute of Social Science in Kadir Has University, Turkey. She holds a BA in Political Science and International Relations from Marmara University, Turkey.
Hazal SAYIN, Research Intern
Hazal Sayın is a master student in International Relations program of Institute of Social Science in Kadir Has University, Turkey. She holds a BA in Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences in Political Science and International Relations from Yıldız Technical University, Turkey.
She has an intern at Municipality of Sarıyer in Foreign Relations Department as member of Youth Projects team in 2015. She was a member as delegate of “Istanbul of parliament of National Youth”, and “Project of Genç Dostu Aday, Genç Dostu Kent” in 2013-2014. Also, a member of AISEC – Project of Myself, My World in 2011-2012.
Ayşegül ARITAN, Design Intern
Ayşegül Arıtan has graduated from Visual Communication Design Department of Communication Faculty, Kadir Has University. During her Bachelors period she joined several graphic design competitions. After graduating at 2016, she started her Master period same year. For one year, she worked as teaching assistant of Prof.Dr. Asker Kartarı, Head of Advertising Department.
She is currently doing Master degree at Kadir Has University on Communication Sciences and working as graphic designer in our current project "Striving for Good Governance: Civil Society Strengthening and Youth Empowerment."
